As a puppy, Zeke never learned what it is like to be a confident dog. However, the wonderful volunteers at National Mill Dog Rescue are happy to show him the ropes! Zeke is very easy-going, friendly and playful around other dogs, but cautious and nervous around people. Leash walking is a skill he has mastered and now enjoys his walks. He loves to play in puppy parties and with his kennel mates. Toys are a definite favorite for him. He will do best in a home without children as he is frightened by loud noises and sudden movements. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
