Hocus's story
Hocus came into Happy Cats' care with her brother Hobbit after they were dumped on the porch of a Good Samaritan in Lamar. She and her brother Hobbit have been in a wonderful foster home since last summer.
They both have Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), a disorder where the cerebellum of the brain did not fully form. This condition makes them have less coordination, muscle tone and balance. Although CH is a non-progressive condition (meaning they will not get worse), cats often adapt and improve on their limitations.
Hocus is on the severe side of Moderate, and is very independent. She doesn't know she has a disability! She has a spit-fire personality, and is very vocal to get what she wants. Hocus will walk over to you and demand to be picked up for hugs, come running for dinner and play with her favorite toys. CH cats tend to be clingy and lovable, and these two are no exception!
Hocus understands she is supposed to use the litter box, but does so around the box itself on puppy pads. Hocus and Hobbit need to be in a house where stairs are gated. Hocus throws herself down stairs, and they are very dangerous for her, then she is not able to get back up. Hocus does normal cat things, just with her wobbly walk. She falls down, often, but that's what's normal for her.
