My story
Hello! My name is Nyx, but my foster parents call me Ava. They said that I needed a beautiful name to match my beautiful face and disposition. I am looking for my new family, so let me tell you a little about myself to see if you might like me.

When you look at my face you can tell that I am the happiest dog in the world. It is because I just love life. There are so many wondrous things for me to explore. I came from a shelter where there were no windows to the outside world, so when my foster parents were driving me from New Mexico to Colorado I was looking out the window the entire time. I was so excited to see EVERYTHING!

Not only am I happy, but I also do not have a mean bone in my body. I live with three foster siblings… a bossy Chihuahua mix, a Shepherd mix, and a Pittie mix. I love them all, even when my littlest sibling is in my face. She doesn’t bother me at all. I just turn away and do not even react. My foster mom says even though I am larger and stronger than her that I have such a gentle, kind heart.

My foster mom says that one of my best qualities is that she loves waking up to see my smiling face and wagging tail. I just can’t wait to see my humans in the morning and to start the new day. Life is great!

You might also want to know that I learn things very quickly. I know how to use a doggie door, and I just learned to sit on command (for food, of course.. haha!) I just love food. I didn’t get very tasty food when I was in the shelter, so being able to eat is such a luxury. Not only is good food something I have just discovered, but I have also learned about toys. Oh my… are they fun!

One thing I need to work on is walking on a leash. Since the world is so exciting to me I just want to explore. I will need someone who is willing to help me walk better.
