Winnie is a shy, beautiful girl who warms up quickly. She is choosy about her fellow canine friends, she prefers them to be a bit more low key. Winnie is enjoying her new life in freedom. But, she is still an EXTREME flight risk and will require a very secure 6ft wood privacy fence. She is definitely an escape artist! She loves her soft bed and her favorite thing to do is run outside in the play yards at National Mill Dog Rescue. Winnie has mastered her leash walking skills as she will require an active home with daily walks. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
